ABOUT THE ARTIST

The last reigning Monarch of Hawaiʻi, Queen Liliʻuokalani had a motto,
“EÊ»onipaÊ»a i ka Ê»imi naÊ»auao.”
This can be interpreted as, “Be steadfast in the seeking of knowledge”.
I seek knowledge through making, I uncover my subconscious and question the unknown while experimenting through new forms and imagery. When viewing a sculpture or image of mine, I feel as if I am laying all of my innards on a pedestal for scrutiny. My work is a response of self-defense, focusing on the many ways I can protect myself. I use materials such as glass, photography, and human hair to convey these modes of self-preservation.
